PDF- and PS-test files for relative colour image reproduction according to the standard DIN 33872-1 to -6:2010

About the content of the standard series DIN 33872-1 to -6

The multipage standard series DIN 33872 "Information technology Office machines Method of specifying relative colour reproduction with YES/NO criteria" is valid for colour reproduction systems "digital analog". The colour reproduction systems include for example the computer operating system and the application software for the analog output of a digital file with the devices
- printers;
- multifunctional devices;
- displays;
- data projectors.

The standard series DIN 33872 describes a method for the specification of the relative colour reproduction properties of the output according to defined YES/NO criteria. The aim is the visual assessment of the output properties of these colour reproduction systems.

The standard DIN 33872-1 to 6:2008 consist of six parts

DIN E 33872 Information technology - Office machines - Method of specifying relative colour reproduction with YES/NO criteria
- Part 1: Classification, terms and principles
- Part 2: Test charts for output properties - Testing of discriminability of 5 and 16 step colour series
- Part 3: Test charts for output properties - Testing of equality for four equivalent grey definitions and discriminability of the 16 grey steps
- Part 4: Test charts for output properties - Testing of equality for two equivalent colour definitions with 5 and 16 step colour series
- Part 5: Test charts for output properties - Testing of elementary hue agreement and hue discriminibility
- Part 6: Test charts for output properties - Testing of the equivalent spacing and of the regular chromatic spacing

Purpose of DIN-test files according to DIN 33872:
The DIN-test files according to DIN 33872-1 serve for the colorimetric reproduction of the output. The colorimetric specification is described in DIN 33872-1 and is similar to ISO/IEC 15775.

The DIN-test files according to DIN 33872-2 to -6 serve for the visual assessment of the output. The YES/NO questions and additional questions are at the last page (page 2 or 11) of the file output.

Remarks to the file names used and additional remarks
The file names are named systematicly according to the "8.3" rule and include therefore 8 alphanumeric letters for the name and three for the extention.
The file names may threfore also be used under Microsoft Windos 3.x.
The first four alphanumeric letters, for example "L13g", describe:
1. the format orientation, letter L (Landscape) or P (Portrait).
2. the test chart with rgb or cmy0 colour data, digit 1 (rgb) or 2 (cmy0).
3. the corresponding part of the DIN-standard, digit 1 (DIN 33872-1) to 6 (DIN 33872-6).
4. the text language of the file output, letter g (German) or e (Englisch).
5. the following two digits "00" describe "all" pages of the DIN-test file (compare tables 1 and 2) or the two digits "01" to "11" which may include up to 11different single pages of a DIN-test file (compare tables 1 and 2 in De24 ).
6. the following letter N stands for "Not linearised" output. Instead of "N" the letter "F" is used for the linearized output, see for example ISO/IEC TR 19797 (Method for output linearization with 16 visual equidistant output steps).
7. for the two file formats PS and PDF the following two letters are used, either "A" or "P". The letter "A" is replaced by the digits 1 to 3, if the file format JPG (JPEG) is produced from a single PS file with different software products. Single pages are usually necessary for the file format transformations, for example for the transfer from PS to JPG. By such a transfer the preview images in De23 could be produced.

For all DIN-test charts according to DIN 33872-1 to -6 and additional remarks to the file size and with preview images in the file format JPG (JPEG), produced by different software products, see De23

For tables with links to all single pages of the DIN-test charts according to DIN 33872-1 to -6 in the file format PS and PDF and the orientations A4L (L=Landscape) and A4P (P=Portrait), see De24

Instead of information for all files of DIN 33972-1 to -6 on this page the folder De11 includes the information of only part 1.
For example the folder De11 includes only files, a preview image and single pages which belong to DIN 33872-1.
The following folders De12, De13, De14, De15, and De16 include the information of only one corresponding part.
