Fig. 1: Output layout without the MTL code in the N File (N = No MTL code in the file), see
A86E00N1.PS / TXT / JPG / PDF

Fig. 2: Output layout uses the MTL code with example "linear direct" CIEXYZ output data
for luminance reflectance Yr=0.00 in the F File (F = MTL code in the File)
which produce "equal" output compared to Fig. 1, see
A86E00F1.PS / TXT / JPG / PDF

Remark: In Fig. 2 the output of the grey series in row 4 and 8 is identical and defined by the same grey
output PS operator used in the MTL code. In Fig. 1 the output of the two grey series in row 4 and 8
may be different, because two different input PS operators are used in the N file.

Fig. 3: Output layout uses the MTL code with example "linear direct" CIEXYZ output data
for luminance reflectance Yr=2.52 in the F File (F = MTL code in the File)
which produce "equal" output compared to Fig. 1, see
B86E00F1.PS / TXT / JPG / PDF

Remark: In Fig. 3 the CIEXYZ data which are measured on the surface of the monitor screen are different
compared to Fig. 2. The luminance reflectance Yr=2.52 is added by the PostScript code. This produces
colour scales which are equally spaced in CIELAB, e. g. between L*n=18 and L*w=86 for this office condition.

Fig. 4: Output layout uses the MTL code with example "linear direct" CIEXYZ output data
for luminance reflectance Yr=5.04 in the F File (F = MTL code in the File)
which produce "equal" output compared to Fig. 1, see
C86E00F1.PS / TXT / JPG / PDF

Remark: In Fig. 4 the CIEXYZ data which are measured on the surface of the monitor screen are different
compared to Fig. 2 and Fig. 3. The luminance reflectance Yr=5.04 is added by the PostScript code. This produces
colour scales which are equally spaced in CIELAB, e. g. between L*n=27 and L*w=86 for this office condition.

Fig. 5: Output layout uses the MTL code with example "linear direct" CIEXYZ output data
for luminance reflectance Yr=7.56 in the F File (F = MTL code in the File)
which produce "equal" output compared to Fig. 1, see
D86E00F1.PS / TXT / JPG / PDF

Remark: In Fig. 5 the CIEXYZ data which are measured on the surface of the monitor screen are different
compared to Fig. 2 to Fig. 4. The luminance reflectance Yr=7.56 is added by the PostScript code. This produces
colour scales which are equally spaced in CIELAB, e. g. between L*n=33 and L*w=86 for this office condition.

Remark: The file names begin with A, B, C or D for the different luminance reflectance Yr=0.00, 2.52 (standard case), 5.04 and7.56 which change the luminous monitor colours.

For information about the parameter i*ptrsc (number 0 to 7) used for input or output PS operators, see IE802

For information about the ISO/IEC-test charts and separate parts (Fig. XY) with different input PS operators and discussion, see IE801

This page includes files for the following application:
Fig. B4 and D4 of chromatic ISO/IEC-test chart 2 and 4,
Colour Workflow (CW) and Output Linearisation (OL)

For Output Linearisation (OL) CIEXYZ data are used in the files.

This page includes files for the following application:
Achromatic ISO/IEC-test chart 3, 000n* input,
Colour Workflow (CW) and Output Linearisation (OL)

For Output Linearisation (OL) CIEXYZ data are used in the files.

Table 1 includes the output files of the Portable Document format (B..NP.PS/TXT/PDF and B..FP.PS/TXT/PDF)
Table 2 includes the output files of the PostScript format (B..NA.PS/TXT and B..FA.PS/TXT).
Table 3 includes the output files of the Portable Document format (B..NP.PS/TXT/PDF and B..SP.PS/TXT/PDF).

To indicate the Colour Workflow (CW) at the output different file names are used. The files have usually the same PS content

The PS content of the files B..NP.PS, B..NA.PS and B..SP.PS of the Tables 1 to 3 is identical and includes no MTL code.
The PS content of the files B..FP.PS and B..FA.PS of the Tables 1 and 2 is identical and includes the MTL code LB.FP.DAT or B..FA.DAT in the file (F).

The output of the files B..FP.PDF and B..SP.PDF must be identical if the MTL code B..SP.DAT is stored within the Distiller Startup Directory during distilling of the PS file B..SP.PS. The files B..FP.PDF and B..SP.PDF have been produced by the software Adobe Acrobat DIstiller Version 3.0. In the first case the MTL code is located in the file B..FP.PS and in the second case the MTL code B..FP.DAT = B..SP.DAT is not in the file B..SP.PS but in the Startup (S) directory of the software Adobe Acrobat DIstiller.

Table 2: For PS start output with linearising data for the model device B in File (F); Input PS operator no. 0 in the NA file and output PS operators no. 0 to 7 in the in FA file which are transferred by the PS MTL code.

Remark: With the files* of Table 2 it is intended to produce only a PS output and not a PDF output.

The files of the tables 1 to 3 are available additionally for three different room reflexions Yr=0.00, 5.04, and 7.56 instead of the standard room reflection Yr=2.52. Every device produces with all NP files the same start output. For the standard room reflexion Yr=2.52 of the table 2 the output of the NP and FP in one row is identical. For devices which produce equal output for corresponding colours the output of all FP files in one collum is identical.

In application the output of the NP files for different output parameters i*ptrsc is in one collum often different. The output of the FP file of the linearized output devices A, C, and D is different compared to the output of the NP file. The PS MTL code uses the measurement data of up to 256 colours of the start output, see the CIEXYZ data at the beginning of the FP files, for the change and the linearisation of the output.

Table 3: For PDF output with linearising data for the model device B in Startup (S); Input PS operator no. 0 in the NP file and output PS operators no. 0 to 7 in the in FP file which are transferred by the PS MTL code.

*) Please transfer e. g. the PDF file B86E00SP.PS with the file B86E00SP.DAT in the Distiller Startup (S) Directory, which uses the parameter i*ptrsc=0. Then this PDF-file produces the same output ans the file B86E00FP.PDF of the Table 2. All L..SP files of the Table 3 are distilled here with only the default file Example.ps in the Distiller Startup (S) Directory.

Remark: With the files* of Table 3 it is intended to produce only a PDF output with linearisation data in the Distiller Startup (S) Directory and not a PS output.

The input operator no. 0 and eight output PS operators no. 0 to 7 are used in the files. The input PS operator no. 0 of the NA or NP file are transferred to the output PS operators no. 0 to 7 in the FA, FP or SP file by the PS MTL code.

For further information and discussion of the results in the achromatic case with similar files see IE811

For further information and discussion of the results in the chromatic case with similar files see IE841

Compare the final result in IE811 and IE841. The Colour Workflow (CW) and the Output Linearisation (OL) of the PS MTL code is based on ISO/IEC 15775 and DIS ISO/IEC 19839-X. The PS MTL code is compatible to CIELAB and fulfils the basic user requirements in the field of image technology. The result is the same in the achromatic and chromatic case.
